Water Quality Monitoring

Bay Monitor Tugboat: The Bay Monitor provides a stable platform for water quality monitoring, research, education, and advocacy.

Adopt-A-Stream: We coordinate a crew of volunteers that monitor water quality in our streams to gather baseline data, evaluate restoration project effectiveness, and flag immediate threats to water quality.

Beach Rangers: A dedicated group of volunteers walk priority stretches of Grand Traverse Bay shoreline monitoring for signs of avian botulism, a deadly paralytic condition that affects waterfowl and shoreline birds.

Healthy Beaches: In conjunction with local health departments, we coordinate E. coli monitoring at public beaches and inform the public of waters unhealthy for swimming and recreation.
