SwingShift and the Stars

The Watershed Center is honored to participate in SwingShift and The Stars and their Million Dollar Challenge this season. We will participate in the Friday, November 17 event at The City Opera House in downtown Traverse City. Our star is Traverse City Commissioner Richard Lewis and our dancer is Holly Provenzano.

We set an ambitious goal to raise $45,000, all of which will help our mission of protecting and advocating for Grand Traverse Bay. Our work is more important than ever as our freshwater resources are at risk.

Without The Watershed Center:

  • Our communities would have missed out on nearly $10 million that made our beaches and communities healthier.
  • Our region’s economy and environment would have no one ensuring they are both thriving.
  • There would be no one standing up, speaking on behalf of our beloved bay.

About The Watershed Center: The Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay was formed in 1994 after a small group of motivated citizens rallied to create an organization that would advocate for clean water by protecting and preserving Grand Traverse Bay and it’s 1,000-square mile watershed.

What We Do: We focus on two areas: on-the-ground projects and advocacy. We positively impact public health, we hire local companies to implement green infrastructure projects, and we speak on behalf of our watershed.

Our Accomplishments: In our 20+ year history, our biggest accomplishments include:
• securing nearly $10 million for our region to implement the Grand Traverse Bay Watershed Protection Plan;
• leading a multi-million dollar effort to get Kids Creek de-listed from the state’s Impaired Water’s List; and
• ensuring 100% of our project funding stays within our watershed, boosting our local economy.

How Your Support Helps Us: To continue to thrive and keep Grand Traverse Bay’s waters fishable, swimmable, and drinkable, we need support from people like you. In a time where the future of environmental priorities is unknown, it is critical to work at a local level. Your support makes difference.

Two Ways to Support The Watershed Center:

  • Purchase tickets: You can purchase seats for our November 17 event, taking place at The City Opera House in downtown Traverse City. We have a block of seats in rows AA-EE on the balcony right side. View the seating map here.
    • We’ll do our best to ensure that seats purchased together will enjoy the evening together, too.
  • Donate: Can’t attend the event but interested in financially supporting The Watershed Center’s work? Donate here (or use the button below) and we will be sure to put your money to good use on advocacy and on-the-ground projects within Grand Traverse Bay’s 1,000-square mile watershed.
