- IN PROGRESS -Partners: City of Traverse City Management Plan for Traverse City:TWC has been working with the City of Traverse City to define a system of stormwater best management practices (BMPs) for use in improving water quality. They recently completed an inventory of all stormwater entry points into Grand Traverse Bay and contributing waters (i.e., Boardman River and Lake, Kid’s Creek, etc.) within the City of Traverse City limits. Currently they are working on defining and developing a system of BMPs for conducting stormwater improvements within the City, as well as prioritizing ones that are affecting water quality the most and are in need of service. The City will also be working to update existing stormwater ordinances and create a stormwater management plan to allow for the implementation of innovative BMPs and low impact design practices. Stormwater Toolkit:As part of our Kids Creek Stormwater Project, TWC has developed a user-friendly toolkit for local governments that provides information regarding existing resources for stormwater management, including developing stormwater plans, evaluating techniques and products, low impact design elements, etc. The toolkit contains summary lists of online and book references, as well as hard copies of journal articles and other related references. It is currently available, just give us a call (231-935-1514) or email ( suren@gtbay.org) if you would like a copy. Unfortunately, since many of the references provided in the toolkit are hard copies and there is a large volume of information on the CD included with it, the toolkit is not available through our website.
